Bearded men are well off, attractive and manly (just don’t mention hygiene!)

MORE than half of men with a beard are in a relationship and consider themselves lucky in love, new research has revealed.

A study of 2,000 bearded blokes shows that the great British and Irish beard is a fact – not a fad. Of those questioned, 74% were in a relationship or married. And 58% consider themselves to be a hit with women.Hardly surprising, when you consider celebs Ryan Gosling, Jake Gyllenhaal, Justin Timberlake and Tom Hiddleston have all worn the hipster beard in the past. The news comes after microbiologist John Golobic told Irish Daily Star Online earlier this year some hipster beards contained so much poo they were worse than toilets.

But the Percy Nobleman study reveals the typical bearded man is aged 34, earns around €54,487 (£40,000) a year and is likely to work in IT, finance, government services or retail.

A sign that despite the uncleanliness of beards, they certainly attract success on all fronts.

Behaviour expert Jez Rose said: “The fuller and more defined your beard, the more likely it is that people’s impression of you is one of manliness and dominance.

“That’s one of the reasons why there is going to be an uplift in women and men finding bearded men more attractive.”
